About the Course

Settle into the season with art. In this Creative Painting course, my aim is to help you explore fun painting techniques you may not have tried before. We will use paint creatively in a relaxed atmosphere and you will also be softly guided by me, so if you are new to drawing and painting or have some experience, this will be your place to learn, grow and experiment.

This term we'll create 4 artworks on the theme "Painting Nature," in a relaxed, gently guided setting suitable for all levels with acrylics, goauche and watercolours.

Our projects will be inspired by autumnal nature:

  • 🎃 Autumn vegetable still life

  • 🍂 Atmospheric autumn landscapes

  • ☁️ Moody skies & light

  • 🍁 Layered autumn foliage

New to painting? Don't worry - you don't need expensive materials. A basic starter kit is all you need to enjoy the course. See the Materials Guide for recommended products and budget-friendly options.

If you have any questions regarding the material list please feel free to email me at artwithdanica@gmail.com.

Beginners welcome!

Come with an open, curious energy - ready to try something new rather than getting it "right" straight away. Some of it may feel challenging at first, and that's completely normal; I'll guide you through every step. My hope is that you'll come away having learned something new, without the pressure of creating a perfect piece. The students who enjoy this most are usually the ones who let themselves experiment and don't mind a wobbly first attempt.

The wellbeing benefits

Research into art-making consistently links it with reduced stress and anxiety, improved focus, and a genuine boost to mood and wellbeing, thanks in part to the calming, meditative quality of sustained, hands-on attention. It also offers a rare kind of unhurried, screen-free focus that's increasingly hard to come by day to day, and this course is designed with that in mind: a supportive space each week to slow down, focus on something achievable, and build real skill and confidence over time, regardless of where you're starting from.

I would recommend wearing something you wouldn't mind getting a little paint on or to perhaps bring an apron if that is a concern.

Note: I will warn the class beforehand if we decide to study Jackson Pollock
